 P R O G R A M
Three degrees south of the Equator is the 5,895 meter high permanently snow capped Mount Kilimanjaro,
Africas highest mountain.
It offers one of the best opportunities to climb a peak at high altitude without technical climbing ability.
Most normally healthy people prepared for some physical exertion should be able to complete the ascent to Gilmans Point and then on to Uhuru peak, the Summit.
This involves approximately 60 kilometers of hiking in total and no technical climbing.
The entire walk or hike takes five days from the main Park entrance at Marangu gate, this route covers a fascinating range of habitats from sub-tropical rain forest to alpine. 		  Guides and porters are provided in the cost of the trip, so that you will have plenty of time to enjoy the ascent as well as the company of the local people (the WaChagga) who will act as your guides.
All you will need to carry is your daypack; the porters will carry all the food and your spare clothing.
There will be times during the climb when it can be hard work but the satisfaction of climbing this, the worlds most famous free standing mountain more than compensates for any hardship endured.
However high you climb, you will return from the mountain with a great sense of achievement.

- DAY BY DAY ITINERARY -
DAY 0.
• We drive to Marangu. In Marangu village which lies at about 1500m in the foothills of Mount Kilmanjaro.
• The final preparations for the ascent will be completed here.
• Overnight in Babylon lodge or your hotel in Arusha
  
Mount Kilimanjaro - Kibo Hut
DAY 1.
• BABYLON LODGE TO MANDARA HUTS
• We meet our guide and porters and drive to Marangu gate the entrance to Kilimanjaro National Park at 1860m/6000ft. After signing in it is around a four-hour hike through sometimes dense rainforest to Mandara hut.
• En-route we pass Maundi Crater.
• Overnight at Mandara Hut. 2725m/9000ft.
 DAY 4.
• KIBO HUT TO UHURU PEAK
• We wake up very early and start out in the darkness towards Gilmans Point, 5685m/18,640ft. Zig-Zaging our way up the scree slope, it takes about five or six hours to reach Gilmans Point.
• From there it takes about two hours to walk along the rim to Uhuru Peak 5895m/19,340ft.
• After a brief celebration we descend back down past Kibo Hut to Horombo Huts and overnight.
DAY 2.
• MANDARA HUTS TO HOROMBO HUTS
• Today we shall cover around 12km/8 miles in five to six hours, passing out of the rainforest into alpine meadows dotted with giant heather trees.
• Overnight at Horombo Hut. 3780m/12,000ft.
   
DAY 3.
• HOROMBO HUTS TO KIBO HUT
• Today the landscape becomes gradually more rugged and rocky. Lobelias and giant Groundsels appear in the sparse moorland. The trail skirts Mawenzi Peak across the stark landscape of the Saddle.
• It takes five to six hours to reach Kibo Hut where we take an early night at 4740m/15,450ft.
 DAY 5.
• HOROMBO HUT TO THE PARK GATE
• At the park gate, we can admire the certificates issued by Kilimanjaro National Parks.
• we are met and return by vehicle to and.
• Overnight in Babylon lodge or your hotel in Arusha for a well-earned rest
• and enjoy a hot relaxing shower.
